"textContent": "> It does amaze me that people have panicked as much as they have - even a company like Atari can only recognise that the existence of OpenTTD will drive sales of the original TTD, and I expect that a significant proportion of the player base still gets the game from the original website method. (I only moved it to Steam out of convenience)\n\nThe majority of new players will not go to a random website and download some things just to play with their friends, they will choose a different game entirely available on steam or another launcher/store of their liking. That is honestly pretty sad, but a fact. Why? Because that's way easier. Younger people don't even have the concept of getting things manually. That spirit is long gone, only us oldfolks and some nerds will keep doing that.\n\nAlso Atari's pricetag is ridiculous for a 32 year old, barely working version of the game. It is an obvious cash grab in the fairway of OpenTTDs legacy, nothing else.\n\nStatistics: Posted by botcherO — 20 Mar 2026 16:49\n\n* * *",
