But they are forcing you to buy a product you do not want or need just to get a free product that someone else created in your library - including of course to the many of us who already own TT (like a lot here I actually even own it twice ... or thrice maybe, I'd have to check, but of course that's ignored ^^). If that's not ripping people off I don't know what is ...

A product that both builds upon, claims ties and reimplements parts of their IP. Mind you, I don't think that this bundling is reasonable from PR POV, but I certainly can see the reasoning behind it. OTTD is a bootleg version of TTD, as such it is trouble for Steam or GOG to allow it on their store fronts.
