General OpenTTD • Re: OpenTTD - Steam and GOG

It's nothing more than a blatant cash grab attempt, and worse they're leveraging this cash grab as a prerequisite for OpenTTD, which is just dishonest to the point of being a scam. If anyone wants a legitimate copy of TTD, hop on ebay and buy a disc copy, and don't give Atari any cash out of this.

I don't understand anyway why people not just simply download the game from this site and instead rely on a service like Steam which just serves as a "man in the middle" getting their share?!?

It there any usecase where "just download and install locally" is not working and strictly requires use of Steam, GOG, ... ?!?
