"textContent": "Hi all,\n\ntoday I uploaded GIST to Bananas. It's been under development for about a year now, and by now I think it's good enough to see public release.\n\nSo what's the gist of GIST? It's an industry set that focuses on industries that are mainly relevant in Germany or have been historically relevant. As such, there's a lot of chemistry in there, but also a wide array of other industries that aims to be less specific than AXIS (yet quite some industries are of course very familiar to AXIS players). And since yet another clone of FIRS/AXIS with just a different selection of industries would have been boring, I changed a couple of key aspects:\n\n\n * Extractive industries (mines, oil wells) have a resource limit to excavate/drill. Once this has been excavated, the industry will close.\n\n\n * Secondary industries stockpile\n\n\n * Secondary industries can have mandatory and optional input freights\n\n\n * Secondary industries can have different production rules where the amount of stockpiled cargo influences the production amounts and output rates\n\n\n * Some industries require electrical power from the local power plant of the same city in addition to raw materials\n\n\n * More dynamic production adaptation to rate of transported cargo for primary industries (unless you wish to make mines require explosives to increase production)\n\n\n * More dynamic production adaptation to stockpile size for secondary industries\n\n\n * Configurable complexity (number of industries and cargoes)\n\nThe set provides 64 cargoes, all of which should be fully compatible with the definitions from FIRS/AXIS. As such, any vehicle set capable of transporting these freights should be fine here as well.\n\nThe set uses a mechanism similar to the ECS vectors to allow an almost free configuration of the set complexity, meaning that the player can choose the amount of different cargos and industries to suit the playstyle and map size. All extensions are part of the GRF directly, meaning that you can configure it directly using set options. There are more than a dozen extensions that can be enabled, each of which enables around 4 cargos and corresponding industries. With no extensions enabled, the set is very much like the vanilla industry selection. With all extensions enabled, it is about as complex as the most complex AXIS variation.\n\nIndustries use somewhat realistic introduction dates, meaning that you can start in the 17th century with transporting grain, wood and livestock, while mining and heavy industries become available in the 19th century and chemical industries are added from around 1850-1920.\n\nThe set is developed on GitHub, if you wish to file bugs or provide feedback, feel free to do so over there (or here). A very detailed documentation listing each and every industry and freight is also available there.\n\nThe graphics are all FIRS/AXIS, I only rewrote the nml code.
