"textContent": "> [..] OpenTTD is a multigenerational game at this point and I can roll my eyes over some changes, but at the end of the day I believe there's plenty of room for everyone's taste in OpenTTD.\n\nI think a huge problem was the moving of most development related stuff to GitHub. There's no reason to suspect regular players know of GitHubs existence, and if they do then having an account there is even less likely. I do have an account for personal & private development stuff, but I have zero desire to discuss anything related to development of anything there, for the simple reasons forums are more accessible, and importantly simple to use in a hurry.\n\nAnother issue is how unapproachable the development team is regarding anything. They often do things that essentially forces you into a way of playing they prefer, either by default or worse by no setting to correct it. This is something thankfully JGRPP corrects and is why I always tell people to use it rather than going anywhere near Vanilla. The very few times I also reach out to them regarding things, the answer is basically \"oh no, anyway\" or \"well thats like last decades fad, so its ok to wazz all over it now\". I have also made clear I have plenty of spare time to dedicate to correcting things i am passionate about (AI specifically) but not once in several years have they reached out or aided my attempts to help at all.\n\ntldr; Do Better™ and this wouldn't have happened, nor happen again in the future. Making the projects code and finding out new stuff, and giving opinions on new stuff locked behind unapproachable developers and unideal platforms like GitHub is how this happened, and the flood of messages about these changes is all the evidence you should need to aim to Do Better™.\n\n\n> take notes from the Cracker Barrel incident.\n\nI hear Brad's Wife used to love OpenTTD.\nSorry, i had to.\n\nStatistics: Posted by Redirect Left — 16 Feb 2026 00:43\n\n* * *",
