"textContent": "> @BW89 Ok, but we're not playing Cities Skylines. If you want to play Cities Skylines, play Cities Skylines.\n\nThis was just one example of how other games handle their mod selection and why it is absurd to put per save settings on the main menu. If you are a new player and have experience with other games it is reasonable to expect that Mod settings on the main menu = global mods (FOR EXAMPLE: Cities Skylines) and mods in new game / Scenario creation windows = per save / Scenario (FOR EXAMPLE Locomotion, Transport Fever 2).\n\n\n\n> - GNOME? You can't supervise them and give feedback, because they have siege mentality and are permanently hostile.\n> - KDE? It's been 18 years since they did anything wrong, so supervision is not needed. Almost as good as OpenTTD.\n>\n> I have a full time job, I have kids to raise, a house to build, I'm months late on building a shed, I'm writing ebuilds for things I want to host and I develop my own things. It's unreasonable to expect consumers to treat devs like they deserve to be constantly looked over their shoulders. We're adults and with such a long track record of spotless work, devs deserve to be trusted. Also, I don't use nightlies, because that could break my system updates.\n\nComparing a small Game to Desktop envrinonments is a interesting choice. KDE does not work on its own. A large amount of non-developer users are commenting on proposed changes and take part in defining the direction of the project. And even there you have people complaining that new releases do not do what they want. Only because you personally like the changes KDE made and dislike the OpenTTD ones does not mean either project needs supervision. As I said before as a player of this game for over 15 Years and many thousand hours I appreciate most of the changes made in 15.0 and do not care about the rest.\n\nRegarding the nightlies my recommendation was checking them out once in a while (maybe when you get bored of your current save) and play around a bit and see if you like the changes or not and than comment on them. Running nightlies from a zip wont break a well running system...\n\n\n> With the garlic analogy, take notes from the Cracker Barrel incident. People don't come to Cracker Barrel to eat things they can get somewhere else. They come for what the joint is known for. Likewise, people don't install OpenTTD to play Cities Skylines.\n\nThis is a stupid comparison. Their was no public development of this rebrand or involment of regulars (if you mean this incident - i do not know much about restaurant chains one ocean away from me).\nAnd in this case players (regulars) of OpenTTD voiced their opinion that these changes (more garlic) would be appropriate and therefore these changes were implemented.\nAnd I still do not understand how using an example for a well established UI principle in Video Games (Global Settings = Main Menu, per save settings = new game / new Scenario menu) means i want to convert OpenTTD to Cities Skylines...\n\nStatistics: Posted by BW89 — 15 Feb 2026 21:03\n\n* * *",
