Real-World Transport Discussion • Re: Your last plane journey

My last four flights were on British Airways, ABZ - LHR - BRU and back again. Outbound two flights on A320neos, and return flights were both A319s. I paid for Club Europe as the price wasn’t actually that much more than economy, and very nice it was too. Got row 1 for three of the flights (plenty of leg room), and it was certainly very civilised.

The BA lounge in Aberdeen (my first time in the new BA lounge) was very nice - had a lovely plate of chicken curry and some drinks. On the flight, was offered a salad but having just had curry, I wasn’t particularly hungry, but I did enjoy a glass of champagne, and the great crew member serving us was happy to keep topping me up! The lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 was very busy, but I was able to get a comfy seat with my laptop and had a cup of tea. Crew again was good on the Brussels flight, and they did offer a meal (smoked salmon salad I think it was) and drinks despite the short flight length. A few more glasses of champagne later I arrived in Brussels quite pleasantly merry!

A few days later and it was back to Brussels Airport for the return legs. The airport-run lounge was really rather excellent, a very nice place to wait for the flight - nice breakfast buffet and again plenty of drinks (though I just had tea as I had to drive home from the airport when I got home). Flight again quite pleasant, had a cup of tea and a biscuit (didn’t fancy food having had breakfast in the lounge). Went to the lounge at the other end of the terminal in T5 on arrival (after a reasonably quick security check, by Heathrow standards), which was also very busy, but again fine - had a couple of mini cans of Coke while watching YouTube on my laptop. Then on the final flight back up, another cup of tea and an afternoon tea service (sandwiches, scone, dessert) before an early arrival into ABZ.

We have a meeting booked in Lisbon later in the year, but alas my flights for that trip are just in economy - it’ll be a bit of a comedown having been rather spoiled with this trip!
