"textContent": "Welcome to the December newsletter. Explore some art, read some poetry, and learn about extracting color from mushrooms in our final issue of the year.\nstay ready\nvia pedro\n1 — art for no one\nTo me, art and design are two sides of the same coin. With that, I went down a rabbit hole of art installations and types of art, and the POV of their artists. So…did you know there is a mega construct of an art piece in the middle of a desert that is inaccessible to most if not all of the general public? This video breaks down the meaning of said art, and whether or not art like this should even exist in the first place.\n2 — an interview with the designer who made the covert art for Andre 3000's flute album\nDesigners and artists who create album art don't get enough of a spotlight IMO. I came across Bráulio Amado and his work when researching on who made the cover art for Frank Ocean's single, Lens. His use of type, color, and layout intrigued me, and it led me to an interview he did with Design Boom. I suggest giving it a read and checking out his portfolio of work for some inspiration and design thinking.\n3 — \"you can't make something accessible to everyone\"\nTaurean literally shared this with me as I was writing out my three for this month, and it was a short, yet interesting, read on what does making something accessible really mean. How just because you follow one standard, does not mean it is applied to every individual—and that's OK, because we should still try \"to make things better for yet more people, even if we can't cover everyone.\"\nstay curious\nvia taurean\n1 — play phrase\nYou know those supercut videos where someone stitches together every instance of a phrase across dozens of movies? This is how those get made. Type in any phrase to pull up a stream of short clips from movies and TV shows where characters say exactly that. It's fun to mess with for its own sake, but it's also a genuine tool for content creators looking for b-roll or audio samples without scrubbing through hours of footage.\n2 — grief found me\nContent Warning: Grief and Loss\nGrief can feel impossible to communicate, too much to say, too difficult to shape into words that fully capture it. Omayeli Arenyeka has you take on the role both as her and her grief by navigating a desktop, composing poetry as you do so.\n3 — mushroom color atlas\nAt first glance this looks like a color reference tool, which it is. You can browse and filter through hundreds of hues by mushroom type or medium. But each swatch represents years of experimentation by Julie Beeler, a designer and artist who forages mushrooms and extracts natural dyes from them. It functions like a very weird Pantone book, but more process-driven, experimental, and natural. There's also a book if you want to go deeper.\n\n---\nupdates\n- Missed the November issue? View last month's archive channel on Are.na.\n- We're still taking feedback through our anonymous survey. As we enter 2026, our aim is to continue to build an organic real community of creatives and thinkers alike. This survey will help us continue to serve this community as best as we can.\n- Have a curiosity or a topic you want to present to our members? We are still open to pitches! You can present something you find interesting, something you're working on, or just seed a discussion you want to have. Reach out via bluesky or email for questions or support. Otherwise, share your idea with us via the google form!\n\nfrom the community:\nNo new updates for this issue! It's wild to think that the year has already gone by but we're incredibly grateful we got to spend it with all of yall. We can't wait to keep experimenting and see what next year has in store.\n\n\n---\n✌ Pedro & Taurean\nbluesky ✦ lu.ma ✦ youtube",
