"textContent": "looking back\nvia pedro\n\nIt's honestly kinda wild how fast a year has gone by. Last year back in January, the beloved Read.cv and Posts community was shutting down due to Perplexity scooping up the hella talented team behind it (IFYKYK). It was shortly after that in which Taurean and I were yapping away in Discord DM's talking about how we wanted to still capture and build a community that didn't center around an app or an algorithm.\nWhile everyone and their pet fish was trying to come up with a clone app/service of Posts, we really wanted to focus something that felt personal and community forward—while also really fun and casual. That balance is what spawned 3&3, and the idea of a monthly newsletter series was something that felt right (which btw was heavily inspired by the newsletter Andy and team sent every week with Posts, specifically highlighting those in the community at the time). \nNo client or crazy timelines and/or expectations to adhere to. Just one issue a month, and on top of that, a virtual hangout series that brought everyone together. We got to work, and today I am so proud of where we are at a year later. We've learned a lot, but most importantly, it really just solidified our love for people and their interests. In a world full of LinkedIn slop and AI written articles, I'm really happy that we've continued to focus on people.\nSo to wrap it all up as I look back...we're not motivated to make the next big thing. We're just a couple of Puerto Rican brothers from another mother and father who wanted to launch something that challenged the idea to not take yourself too seriously. The world needs more fun and community, and with that, F**k metrics, algorithms, and the never ending grind to make things that always have to have some elaborate end goal for others. Make something you're proud of. Embrace chaos. Stay ready...but also always stay curious.\nlooking forward\nvia taurean\n\nWe've learned a lot the last twelve months, both about how we work together and what resonates with you all. A few things we're working on as a result:\nFirst, how we communicate with you. We're switching our mailing provider from Loops to Offprint. This won't change much on your end, except now you can subscribe with an atmosphere account like Bluesky if that's more your speed than email. It also gives us a public page (a bit like Substack) where you can easily find every past issue. You can highlight a section, quickly post it on Bluesky, and talk about the newsletter in context. RSS support comes with it too.\nNext, our monthly events. We've been more talk than action here, so we're putting in real effort to fix that. Expect us to rotate events month over month so there's more variety and, more importantly, so 3&3 is accessible to friends in different time zones.\nWe're also scheduling events a few months out so you can RSVP early. We'll confirm final details in the newsletter that precedes each event, which gives us room to reschedule if something falls through (like a speaker dropping out).\n\"Several People are Typing…\" will run at its usual time, capped around 30 minutes so it fits in a lunch break.\n\"CRIT\", our design and product critique, will run in the evening Eastern time and give you a small, private space to talk through the challenges you're facing and weigh options with friends.\n\"3&3 Presents\" returns as our morning presentation series, where folks from the community give short talks on just about anything.\nFinally, the fun stuff. We're still working out logistics (and open to advice here), but stickers will be available at-cost very soon. Further out, we're starting work on our first 3&3 physical zine for the year.\n\nthank you\nThank you Nick Noble for taking the leap and being our very first presenter ever! \nThank you Courtney Ryan for lending your copywriting and strategy brain on helping us nail the 3&3 tone.\nThank you Kōhei Foss, Akshara Dash, Ken Voskuil, Jon Hargreaves, and Steve Crosby for bringing in other dope and interesting topics during out meets! From incorporating Wii Sports and absurdity into your process, to \"What's in a name?\"\nAnd finally, thank you Perplexity for ruining a good thing, we wouldn’t have done this without you 🖕🏼\n\n\n---\n♡\nbluesky ✦ lu.ma ✦ youtube",
