"textContent": "A fast-paced week of action charging up the match-neutral standings sees Seattle Sounders ready for their long pause. First up are two matches against the two versions of Los Angeles – the burbs and downtown.\n\n### Versus Galaxy\n\nOnce upon a time this was a grand rivalry, only surpassed by Portland. It was built on LA dominating Seattle early and eventually the Sounders passing the Galaxy. At this point you should consider LA Galaxy completely lapped. Sure they won MLS Cup more recently than Seattle – that's the only thing they've done greater than Sounders in many years.\n\n> Seattle Sounders FC are undefeated in their last 11 home matches against LA Galaxy in all competitions. - WhoScored\n\nEven in their last six at Carson, the Sounders are 3-3, +3. A rivalry built on stiff competition needs a stiff competitor. Not the second best team in its home market that's more frequently on the bottom of the conference than it is making the playoffs.\n\n### **Going streaking and other stats**\n\n * The home unbeaten streak is at 22 matches in all competitions, and 14 in MLS play.\n * The MLS unbeaten run is at 9 games, tied for the best in MLS 2026. This matches Brian Schmetzer's fourth-best unbeaten run in 2023. His best with MLS Sounders went 13 in 2021 and 2017.\n * The Sounders have scored at least once in six straight all competitions matches. They were last held scoreless at home by Paris Saint-Germain in June of 2025.\n * Nine Sounders have scored at least one goal in all competitions so far in 2026. During last season's record setting offense 14 players scored all competitions goals.\n * Jordan Morris' all competitions goal contributions per 90 is lower than only a single season. That higher season was 2020, when he was an MLS MVP finalist. Is he turning into an assisting forward? I hope not.\n * Andrew Thomas is first in save percentage, second goals against average, second in clean sheet percentage and tied for third in clean sheets. He deserves your All Star vote.\n * Seattle's offense is so dispersed that they do not have a single player in the top 40 MLS goal contributions chart. They do have three in the next 20, though.\n\n\n\n### A food discovery\n\nDespite so many concessions stands being closed regularly and the standard fare not significantly changing for years, on Wednesday night I found a food that made me feel like I wasn't robbed.\n\nThe vegan esquites in the concourse behind the SE corner flag is some of the best stadium food I've had. It wasn't obscenely priced for the quality. I'm not vegan and I'd get it again.\n\nThat stand was all veggie or vegan faire with several gluten-free beverage options.\n\n> Use our affiliate links__ to support your bloggers when buying merch and tickets.\n\n* * *\n\nSPONSORED\n\nThis newsletter was made possible through the support of Iron Chuck’s Gluten Free pitas.
