It's not canvassing! Canvassing is the practice of going around to many unrelated people to try and motivate them to be active in a way they otherwise would not be nor even aware of the subvject matter at hand. This thread isn't doing that. It's openly discussing how to satisfy Wikipedia's requirements for notable external sources. That is not canvassing.
