if you want the latest Gnome or KDE, you absolutely must use a bleeding edge distro like Fedora or Arch.

Not really, I got my laptop preinstalled with KDE Neon and it works great as a showcase of the latest from KDE. Currently running KDE Plasma 6.6.5.
