Oh my! This sounds like it could be good, Linux-land could use a truly portable version, especially for testing purposes.

AppImages aren't portable by default (they store config files in your home folder). You can modify an AppImage to make it truly portable just like portable Windows apps. Typically you run portable apps from a USB-stick to make sure nothing is changed on the host computer.
