Or, if all we're doing anyway is trying to provide an integration layer, then why not run on Wine (since win32 isn't going away in the foreseeable future) and do away with native Linux builds? All things that roll around in my head reading this discussion.

Spoiler alert: Browsers on Wine are slow. UXP has a reputation for being slow in the general browser community. Put two and two together and you literally have IE speeds of slow on Linux

PLUS you’d piss off a LOOOOT of people if you got away with Linux builds all together.
