"textContent": "> Hello, I wanted to congratulate you on this project, which has improved considerably.\n>\n> ...\n>\n> And then what? That's the real question !\n\nHi, thank you for the detailed feedback. It is useful to hear from someone evaluating Basilisk as part of a Linux distribution.\n\nI am glad to hear it is working well for your use case and that it provides the web compatibility required for your users. Those are areas I have been actively putting my attention into. I do want to add that I have been working on implementing support for some of the polyfilled functions in the UXP platform, so eventually Pale Moon will get those features as well.\n\nRight now Basilisk does not ship with full UI language packs like Firefox, Waterfox, and Pale Moon. The interface being stuck in English is expected unfortunately.\n\nWe do have Spellcheck dictionaries and some locale preferences such as intl.locale.requested in about:config but these do not translate the UI unfortunately.\n\nProper French support would require a full fr locale for Basilisk and ongoing maintenance. One practical approach would be to fork an existing language pack from Firefox 52 or Iceweasel-UXP and adapt it for Basilisk. That should get you most of the way there, though it will need adjustments and maintenance over time as text is added/removed in Basilisk.\n\nIf your project is serious about adopting Basilisk with support for the French language, the most realistic path is to create and maintain that localization. I can point you in the right direction if you want to pursue it.\n\nBasilisk does not currently have a built in feature equivalent to AutoPageColor. We do have FranklinDM's Swarth extension which should do what you are wanting here I believe. Dark Mode in the browser UI should be inherited from your GTK theme.\n\nI am willing to explore implementing a built-in solution in the browser, but that is not implemented at this time.\n\nThere is no built in translation feature.\n\nModern translation depends on external services or large local models. Both come with tradeoffs in privacy, complexity, and maintenance. For now the expectation should be to use extensions where possible or external tools. The BabbleOn extension is listed on the Basilisk addons site but I have not tested it.\n\nIn regards to web compatibility, Basilisk aims to improve upon web compatibility compared to base UXP through the use of polyfills.\n\nIf your goal is a lightweight browser with better compatibility than other UXP browsers, Basilisk is a reasonable option (although as mentioned earlier, I do plan to implement the polyfilled functions in UXP so Pale Moon will eventually get them as well).\n\nIf you move forward with including Basilisk in DebLight OS, it would be helpful to know what hardware you are targeting and what specific sites or features your users struggle with most.\n\n\n> How do you think Basilisk works on more websites then PM? They both use the same platform, only major difference I can see is the addition of WebRTC\n\nWe ship several polyfills in Basilisk for JavaScript functions that are missing in UXP to improve site compatibility. It's a bit janky but it greatly improves our web compatibility on several sites over UXP out of the box. You likely already have these in your code.\n\n* * *",
