"textContent": "**Off-topic:**\n\n\n> I too use the Hosts file in both MX Linux and Debian by way of the Terminal.\n\n**1.** I did specify the hosts.deny file, not the generic hosts. They are different files, and use different syntax (see details **here**). There's a hosts.allow too.\n**2.** No need for the Terminal here either. Same file manager I mentioned before can keep a tab locked to /etc, and a _smart_ editor (such as **CudaText** which I use) can also keep tabs for each open file complete with last cursor location, so opening a file again will automatically land to last edit.\n\n> I have no social media accounts [...], I do not like the practice where some websites put these tracking cookies for these companies in my browser lists of cookies.\n\nNeither do I, save for WordPress where I have two rotting blogs. Years ago used to have a few accounts on different platforms - most of which long gone - but I grew past that, and deleted them (unless they went belly up first). As for those cookies, I used to worry at first, and had the browser set to delete all cookies/history/data/etc on exit, but then just stopped caring - there are other things that could harm me much more than a bunch of cookies. And lately logging into WP or other sites that need authentication became so difficult if not impossible that I just decided to let them cookies be.\n\n> I hope you get to solve your problem, if you haven't already, with your linux Pale Moon. And I might add, I've also enjoyed the \"generalized chit-chat\" between you and me today.\n\nYeah, problem got solved earlier today, no more worries (at least for now). And the chat was a pleasure for me too. Be well!\n\n* * *",
