"textContent": "> don't shoot the messenger.\n\nWon't shoot to kill - only to cripple. Just kiddin'.\n\n> I noticed Linux Mint 19.2 is not supported anymore since it reached end of life in April of 2023.\n\nHaven't really had much support from the team, if at all, for the last seven years since I first installed it. I can support it myself if/when necessary, within certain limits of course. There are reasons for me sticking with this particular version, but it's not the place to debate that here.\n\n> I had no problem loading the sites you cannot get to [...]\n\nThat's probably because your browser is already set to use TLS 1.3 by default, and you didn't mess with the settings (do you even have Pale Moon Commander installed to see those options?) I did change various options in the past but as usually I forgot everything, so can't be sure if setting protocols to SSL 3.0 was my [wrong]doing or not.\n\n\n> I would think TLS 1.3 would just work out of the box without it trying to use an older SSL protocol.\n\nIt probably does. Maybe my wording was a little ambiguous. At first, both protocols were set to SSL 3.0 (by me at some point back in time, or whatever) and I didn't know, that's why the sites wouldn't open. After changing **both** to TLS 1.3 the sites do open fine. My confusion/question is, why does setting **lowest** protocol to SSL 3.0 prevent loading of those sites if the **highest** is still set to TLS 1.3?\n\n> Also, we don't use OpenSSL internally as far as I know, I think we use NSS for everything.\n\nYes, ultimately I did find that out myself yesterday (with the help of the intelligent duck ) but by then I had already built and installed OpenSSL 3.5.5. Guess it wouldn't hurt to have it installed and ready if anything ever requires it. Since most open-source projects keep moving higher and higher with tool requirements, and backporting is limited to very few willing to provide new versions built for old systems I guess it's better to take advange and build/install apps/libraries/etc now while it's still possible.\n\n* * *",
