"my knowledge of XUL" is zero, so you're ahead of me on that issue. The only thing I remember about customizing Pale Moon is adding the Colorful Fractal thing you see. That's been there from the beginning; I can't imagine that has anything to do with anything, so I'll put that idea on hold for now.

Come to think of it, I believe I have a backup of my profile. I'd rather somebody come up with an explanation, if not a fix. I'll wait a little longer, and right now I need to go to bed anyway.
