In Italy April's Fools jokes are called "Pesce d'Aprile" (April's Fish). I haven't seen any joke today but this on the forum.

However I have a real story concerning fish and today. On Wednesday I have an open air market near home. I went there this morning and saw some pumpkin flowers. So I wanted to buy some fresh anchovies to fry together with the flowers. While I was queing up at the fishmonger's, one of the greengrocers (of whom I am a customer) passed by, greeted me, and told to the fishmonger to keep the last cassette of anchovies for him. When my turn came, I told the fishmonger I am a customer of that greengrocer, and to take about a dozen of anchovies for me out of the "reservation", then I would tell him. So everything was solved
