Since you mentioned "tabs", I am pretty sure I am the odd man out since I do not like to have multiple tabs open unless it is absolutely necessary.
In the Preferences for Pale Moon on all of my five computers; under General, I have the box "unchecked" for: Always show the tab bar. But I have the box "checked" for: When I Open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately. So for me, I never have a tab open for YouTube. YouTube's website's address is shown in my Navigation Toolbar.
From the shop where I hang out/volunteer, I have found those customers who have older computers, having at least two tabs open gives them problems on YouTube. And most of these customers are using laptops.
Combine this with the other factors I have previously mentioned in this thread and YouTube is a struggle for them.
