How to subscribe to SuperGrok anonymously

Privacy Guides Community [Unofficial] June 10, 2026
Source

I have noticed that SuperGrok allows you to pay crypto (specifically: USDC via Stripe) which seems to be unique among the paid tiers for the mainstream AI chats.

Now - if you really value your privacy you probably shouldn’t use a cloud-based chatbot like Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, Mistral etc., but not everyone can or wants to run a local AI or use one of the few, often not very good, private AIs (e.g. Confer.to, Proton Lumo). So in terms of threat modelling, it is a bit odd to pay for a mainstream AI service but then try to stay anonymous.

The more you talk to the AI, the more likely you’ll reveal (or narrow down) your identity anyway. For example, as soon as you upload a document containing your name in the content or metadata, it’s already over. So this is more of an academic exercise rather a recommendation.

Here’s a step by step guide how to subscribe to SuperGrok (paid version of Grok) without revealing your identity.

Pre-requisites: Always-on VPN Created Grok account using an anonymous email address and no real name given. (xAI doesn’t ask for a phone number and doesn’t seem to block email forwarders like Anonaddy.) Already own some of Monero - if not see below Self-custodial crypto wallet app with a Monero wallet - I’ll be using Cake Wallet in my guide

Buying Monero if you haven’t yet

Privacy Guides already has a guide on how to buy Monero.

I noticed DFX, the one and only provider in my area that allows me to directly buy Monero, has secretly increased their fees (now about 6.5% on a €100 purchase) and seems to randomly require KYC.

A cheaper option for me has to been create an account with Kraken, pass their KYC, buy Litecoin and swap it to Monero (without KYC). Example below:

  1. Create Kraken account and pass their KYC
  2. Go to Kraken Pro (pro.kraken.com)
  3. Deposit → select the cheapest option (in my case bank transfer, zero fees)
  4. Kraken Pro → search for a market → LTC/{your currency}-> Buy → Market → enter the amount you want to buy in either currency. Fee for buying LTC is 0.4%.
  5. Create (if you haven’t yet) a Litecoin wallet in Cake Wallet. Then find your Litecoin address in Cake Wallet by selecting your Litecoin wallet and tapping on “receive”.
  6. Kraken Pro → Home → 3 dots next to Litecoin balance → Withdraw → Max Amount → Enter Litecoin your wallet address to receive the funds here. Litecoin network fee was negligible.
  7. Next, either use the Swap function in Cake Wallet to swap your Litecoin into Monero, or - slightly cheaper option - go to the website Trocador.app and select the best/cheapest offer to swap Litecoin into Monero. When I checked, the rate spread for best provider when I checked was 0.175%. Litecoin network fee was negligible.
  8. Send the Litecoin, wait to receive Monero.

If you’re paranoid, wait a day or two before continuing, so that the timing of the payments can’t be correlated easily.

Once you have Monero (start here if you already do)

  1. Create a brand new Polygon wallet in Cake Wallet. Save the seed phrase in your password manager. Find your wallet address in the “receive” menu.
  2. Either use the Swap function in Cake Wallet (more expensive), or go to Trocador.app and select best/cheapest offer to swap Monero into USDC on Polygon. Enter your Polygon wallet address to receive the funds. For the target amount, select slightly more than you’ll need to pay, to have some room for network fees and other minor transaction cost. The rate spread for the best provider when I checked was 1.17% but for small amounts like $10 it can be more. Monero network fee was negligible. Wait until you have received the USDC funds in your Polygon wallet.
  3. Go to Grok.com, subscribe to SuperGrok.
  4. On the Stripe checkout website, select USD as the currency and then crypto as the payment method, then click “Subscribe”
  5. A website opens where you connect your crypto wallet. Search for Cake Wallet and select it. It will show a QR code.
  6. In Cake Wallet select your Polygon wallet and then tap on the “Scan” button to connect to Stripe. Tap “Approve” when it wants to connect.
  7. In Stripe, select Polygon as your blockchain and click on “Update network”. Your available USDC balance will show.
  8. Click on “Pay x USDC”. Approve the request appearing in Cake Wallet.

And now you have subscribed to SuperGrok without revealing:

  • Your name (pseudonym given)
  • Your real email (anonymous email address used)
  • Your phone number (not requested by xAI nor your anonymous email provider)
  • Your payment details (paid in crypto from a fresh wallet with any blockchain links destroyed by using Monero in the process)
  • Your IP (you’ve had your VPN on the whole time, right?)

Congrats on your anonymous premium subscription for a frontier AI!

PS: Even starting from scratch without any Monero, the overall fees were just 1.738% : [1]. For me as a non-American that was actually cheaper than paying by credit card (my bank’s fees for paying in a foreign currency would have been 2.99%; alternatively the Stripe currency conversion would have added about 4.85% markup to the exchange rate).

  1. 0.4% Kraken Pro fee + 0.175% spread when swapping LTC to XMR + 1.17% spread when swapping XMR to USDC + negligible network fees. Total fees were 1.738% =1-(1-0.4%)(1-0.175%)(1-1.17%) ↩︎
