ThePrivacyDad:

That is not easily affordable

You keep asserting this but I think it is definitely not a universal fact. The surveys I am finding average $330 – $550, which sounds about right to me. And this is not even considering the fact that majority of people are spending crazy amounts of money on cell plans for no reason.

In the USA I can also find numerous deals for 4 unlimited data plans and 4 iPhones for $100/month total. I can also find similar deals in plenty of other English-speaking countries, can’t check others since I only speak English.

Amortized over the lifespan of a device, I think most people can certainly afford up to $100 USD per year for a phone, even if they need to buy a family’s worth of them. A 300 EUR Pixel 8a with 4 years of support is 75 EUR per year, so even less than that figure is fairly easily achievable.

Or, Apple would probably just tell you to buy a $240 cellular Apple Watch lol

ThePrivacyDad:

Cheapest Pixel 9a I can find is 440 USD

What country? Because used this is easily $290 USD at the most in the USA.

And Google will directly sell you an 8a with a 1 year warranty for $340 right now too.
