Thunderbird Pro and Thundermail announced

Privacy Guides Community [Unofficial] May 25, 2026
Source

I have had access to the closed beta for the last couple of weeks, however I was signed up to the wait list immediately after it went live.

Some initial info that could be subject to change as they are still developing the product, this is all publicly available information.

  • Servers are hosted on Amazon Web Services in Germany
  • No 2 factor authentication (it’s currently being worked on)
  • No inbound PGP email encryption (on the roadmap for 2026)
  • No DNSSEC/DANE (on the roadmap for 2026)
  • They are sending aggregate DMARC reports to Cloudflare (doesn’t include message content but metadata is included)
  • Their MTA-STS is setup in testing mode (not functional)
  • Payments are handled through Paddle

If you’re curious about what they are working on there is a public roadmap:

Thunderbird
