Any recomendation for eReader hardware?

They provide no value over KOReader, which pretty much offers everything you could think of and it’s not a ROM, just a modification (to my knowledge). Before buying a device I’d recommend checking discussions about it to really see if it’s good or not for your use case. I use a Kobo Clara BW purchased in 2025 and it’s been wonderful so far.
