Accessing Rclone Crypt files on Android/GrapheneOS in 2026?

Thanks for trying it out. I tried it last night and can confirm that none of my photo viewers (Aves, GrapheneOS gallery, Ente (local only) )could see my Rclone photos even after enabling every permission
Curiously, I also tried plugging in a physical USB flash drive and Aves couldn’t see those photos either…. So basically Aves is limited to whatever measley storage I have on my Pixel’s internal storage it seems.
I could only see the Rclone files in the GrapheneOS files app and it looks like it’s mounted similarly to how other cloud services are mounted. Performance is very slow and I can’t view photo metadata. It’s even a worse photo viewing experience than viewing Proton Drive photos, which already is borderline worthless.
I could look into a sync software, but then I’m still bottlenecked by my phone’s limited storage space, which can only hold a fraction of the photos and videos I want to be able to view.
I was really hoping for an private solution that didn’t require me to self-host or pay for even more duplicative cloud storage. I miss having sd card slots on phones
