"textContent": "fernweh:\n\n> In my opinion it does not make sense for an individual to buy a domain.\n\n**it does actually make sense** for an individual to buy a domain. Its not just a benefit for your **privacy** but gives you lot of **freedom** and **portability** over your email.\n\nAn email id is required for every website nowadays. And once you start using an email you’ll have to end up with it for a long time.\ni still haven’t been able to do away with my gmail i created 15 years ago.\n\nA domain helps in compartmentalisation and gives you a lot of portability incase you decided to change an email provider.\nAlthough simplelogin is a good service and has a generous free plan but when you think about it in long term , you don’t want to get tied to it for lifelong.\nAlso the fact that many services would reject these diposable email-addresses , makes it less desirable choice.\n\nSo , i have been using my own domain since a year now, and have migadu as my email provider. Its been working very well for me till now.\nWith migadu’s micro plan you can actually add multiple domains and unlimited mailboxes as far as you don’t exceed the storage limit for your quota (i.e 5Gb). So its highly useful for pruposes like aliasing.\nI actually ended up using 2 domains. One for official purposes ,like work and banks and another one for casual purposes like social media websites and other random websites.\n\nThe cost of domain+migadu micro plan actually comes to a reasonable price compared to the premium version of proton/simplelog. Plus you have a greater control over your domain and portability.",
