I get why it might feel a bit AI bloated at first glance. A lot of projects are adding AI features right now whether they really need them or not.
From what I can see though, and just speaking as someone who follows WebRTC projects pretty closely, those parts don’t seem deeply built into the core. Things like ChatGPT or Recall AI look more like optional add ons than something the whole project depends on.
If that’s the case, then it’s not really bloat. It’s more like extra features you can choose to use or ignore. What really matters is whether the core WebRTC side stays clean and usable on its own.
The mention of Recall AI also looks more like a sponsorship or partnership than an actual built in dependency, so I wouldn’t read too much into that.
That said, I do think projects should be careful with how they present these things. If AI features are optional, it should be very clear, otherwise it can easily give the impression that everything depends on them.
Overall, this feels more like part of the current trend of experimenting with AI in WebRTC rather than real unnecessary complexity, as long as those features can be easily turned off.
