The behavior of the company AdGuard
seize:
Potentially off topic, but what does Proton’s infrastructure being physically located in the United States of America have to do with any potential vulnerabilities discovered by Claude Mythos Preview.
I’ve read your post, and it’s a good question—here’s my answer.
On Anthropic’s official website, it states the following:
Anthropic has also been in ongoing discussions with US government officials about Claude Mythos Preview and its offensive and defensive cyber capabilities. As we noted above, securing critical infrastructure is a top national security priority for democratic countries—the emergence of these cyber capabilities is another reason why the US and its allies must maintain a decisive lead in AI technology. Governments have an essential role to play in helping maintain that lead, and in both assessing and mitigating the national security risks associated with AI models. We are ready to work with local, state, and federal representatives to assist in these tasks.

-> As you can see, the company itself will assist the government and other authorities for such purposes, but if we combine that argument with what the United States is capable of (I don’t live in that country), they could develop better tools to exploit more vulnerabilities and decrypt traffic in real time, with or without prior notice to the public. If they were to do so with notification, they would use the pretext of protecting the country and monitoring the traffic flowing through their networks (fiber-optic cables) without authorization from a judge or the Supreme Court (possibly). The NSA may—I repeat: may—have hidden capabilities that I’m unaware of. What they call “quantum” computers is one thing, but it’s clear that AI is advancing much faster.
Proton AG is vulnerable by installing its Meet infrastructure in the United States instead of Switzerland or another country they use, such as the Secure Core servers, for example (according to their arguments, not mine). Therefore, the coherence of their ecosystem collapses on its own, because when a product is compromised, it affects the company’s credibility; if it affects the company, it affects everything, and that’s not good.
