A Cryptography Engineer’s Perspective on Quantum Computing Timelines

I think the real danger is that we won’t know it happened until long after the fact. If you have the ability to decrypt a large amount of the worlds data and you spent billions to get that capability….are you really going to announce it publicly or sell the info to the highest bidder?
