Systemd Offers Optional Age Verification

XD lyricism: > Systemd does not offer age verification in any form. They added a field to systemd-userdb to store a birthdate for an account. There is no functionality in systemd to verify this value or do anything with it. It’s just support in the schema for the data. It can be added with or without verification, but systemd doesn’t do any verification itself. “Um actually, Palantir does not offer mass killing tools in any form. They added data warehousing and synthesis AI tools for surveillance data. There is no functionality in Palantir to direct a missile or weapon at people or do anything with it. It’s just big data analytics for the data. It can be done with or without mass killings, but Palantir itself does not do any mass killings itself.” This is so ridiculous. Why is systemd already prostrate before any law requiring it to do so appears. Is it not because lennert has a massive conflict of interest offering amutable and working with mass surveillance companies? They could have just not added it, just like they haven’t added support for thousands of other features. Pre-emptive compliance is only for the malicious or the weak. The article is perfectly okay in calling it out for what it is. People who build infrastructure for surveillance are just as complicit as the ones who do it.
