I have Proton Duo, shared with a friend. I asked Proton about how can I include my family members without getting Proton Family, and they told me below. Please be advised that having multiple paid subscriptions under one account is, unfortunately, still not possible at the moment. This means that if you switch your subscription to the Pass Family plan, your current Proton Duo plan will be canceled, and you will only retain access to the free features of Proton Mail moving forward. Additionally, it is not possible for one of your family members to be subscribed to the Pass Family plan and then invite you to join while you are still on Proton Duo. This is because it’s not allowed to have two active subscriptions under the same account at the same time. As an alternative workaround, you can consider the following setup: One of your family members can subscribe to the Pass Family plan and become the admin. That admin can then invite the other family members (except you) to join the Pass Family plan. https://proton.me/support/pass-family-add-user You can remain on your Proton Duo plan, since the Proton Duo plan already includes all premium Proton Pass features. Once everyone else has joined the Pass Family plan, you will all be able to share vaults with each other, without needing to change your own plan. (if you would like) So, I skipped Proton and went to Bitwarden. They didn’t give me a discount but they used my existing Premium sub price as pro rata and switched me to Family plan. I am mostly done with the migration, only few passkeys and attachments which I most likely missed left. I have time until June with 1Password but I have no desire to support a company with such bad business practices and customer support experience, so I bought BW Family plan immediately. Most of you know me already that I was a 1Password supporter, but this price change and ignoring customer feedback was the last straw for me. They are sponsoring Formula 1 and yet they are complaining about costs. Also, they implemented AI which no one asked. They ignored bugs which are still there, like boot time crash bug, or translations, or login bugs. And they replaced their customer service with AI, which is pretty much useless.
