"textContent": "I’m surprised nobody shared this:\n\nThe Verge – 25 Feb 26\n\n### Apple brings age verification to UK users in iOS 26.4 beta\n\nAge checks are spreading.\n\nARCHIVE: https://archive.ph/csAm4\n\nApparently, the primary way they will determine your age, is from your credit card, because you need to be 18 to have one, and from the age of your account. If you can’t get automatically verified that way, you have to scan your ID.\n\nI wonder if it will be the same in the rest of the world. I refuse to provide my ID to Google or Apple.\n\n**I also can’t help but wonder, can Apple tell the difference between a credit card and a debit card,**\n\nBecause I’m pretty sure most people in the UK use a VISA debit card. Not a credit card. Especially young adults. And I’m not sure if you need to be 18 to have a visa debit card.\n\nLastly, Apple allows you to change your name in your profile. I have done it in the past.\nI don’t remember if you can change your DOB, but I think you can. Though I suspect doing that will trigger alarm bells in 2026.\n\nI’ve always wanted to create a fake Apple ID account, but I guess it’s probably too late now.\nAlso, I have been using virtual credit card for years, and always used a fake name for all of them. **What will Apple do if they see that the name on your credit card doesn’t match the name on your profile?**",
