Security through obscurity is not something you should rely on. Plus, Linux isn’t really obscure given all of the critical infrastructure which relies on it. Desktop Linux may be somewhat more obscure than Windows or MacOS, however is subject to the same exploits as headless Linux thereby making any potential obscurity irrelevant.
From A freedom, privacy, and morality perspective Desktop Linux can hold some advantages over closed source operating systems, but users should be aware of the security trade offs currently inherent in this choice.
