  "textContent": "<p>Murder charges have been filed against a 33-year-old Gary, Ind. food delivery driver accused of fatally shooting a man working at an Amazon plant earlier this week in south suburban Matteson.</p><p>Devonta D. Hodge, 33, was charged with murder after the death of 26-year-old Dylan Perkins and was scheduled for a detention hearing at the Markham Courthouse, according to Matteson police. </p><p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/06/29/man-dead-after-apparent-shooting-at-matteson-amazon-facility\" target=\"_blank\" >Police responded to a call of shots fired about 10:55 p.m. </a>in an employee parking lot outside 7001 S. Vollmer Road, an Amazon fulfillment center that is open 24 hours, police said.</p><p>Hodge became embroiled in an argument with Perkins, who worked for a third-party vendor at Amazon, and fatally shot him before fleeing the scene, Matteson police said.</p><p>The death of Perkins, who died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. </p><p>Police did not offer a motive for the attack. <br></p>",
