Food delivery driver sought after Amazon staffer gunned down in Matteson facility parking lot
Authorities are seeking a food delivery driver who became embroiled in an argument with an Amazon staffer and fatally shot the 26-year-old worker early Monday in Matteson, officials said.
The incident unfolded shortly after midnight in an employee parking lot outside 7001 S. Vollmer Rd., an Amazon fulfillment center that is open 24-hours, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office and a village spokesperson.
The driver and the worker began arguing and the driver shot three or four times, leaving the 26-year-old staffer dead, according to officials and the medical examiner's office.
The shooter fled the scene and there were no witnesses, but a camera without sound captured the shooting, the spokesperson said. No one else was hurt and it was not clear if the 26-year-old was robbed.
Though the attacker, for which a description was not given, is not in custody, the spokesperson said there was "no immediate threat to the area."
An Amazon representative could not be reached immediately.
