"textContent": "<p>NEW YORK – A night after <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/cubs/2026/06/22/cubs-mets-rain-delay-rainout-weather-new-york-city-doubleheader-wednesday\" >forecasted rain washed away the scheduled opener</a> of a four-game series between the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/cubs\" >Cubs</a> and Mets, rain again made an impact Tuesday night.</p><p>First pitch was delayed 10 minutes by rain, with a 6:20 p.m. Central start time announced less than an hour before the scheduled 6:10 p.m. Central contest.</p><p>The Cubs experienced back-to-back rainouts in two different time zones, with Monday’s postponement following the rescheduling of Sunday’s scheduled game against the Blue Jays at Wrigley Field.</p><p>Cubs skipper Craig Counsell was none too pleased with Monday’s decision a day later, saying Tuesday, “Frankly, yesterday’s game did not need to be rained out. It didn’t rain. And for some reason, we didn’t play.”</p><p>That rainout forced a doubleheader Wednesday at Citi Field.</p>",
