  "textContent": "<p>A 14-year-old boy was among eight people killed over the long holiday weekend that saw nearly 40 others — including 13 people shot during a Juneteenth celebration on the Far South Side — wounded. </p><p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/2026/06/20/5-dead-19-hurt-in-weekend-shootings-including-12-wounded-in-mass-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" >The Roseland neighborhood mass shooting </a>caught the attention of President Donald Trump, who posted on social media: \"Lots of Killing going on in Chicago. 22 people shot, at least 4 Dead. Why isn't Governor Pritzker calling me for help.\"</p><p>The dead included Marcus Chatman, 14, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/06/19/auburn-gresham-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" >who was shot multiple times around 11:30 p.m.</a> Thursday in the 8000 block of South Carpenter Street in Auburn Gresham, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. </p><p>Seven others killed from Thursday 5 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m., include Christopher A. Lakes, 34 and killed in Austin; Aniyhas S. Jackson, 18 and also shot in Austin; a 21-year-old man shot in the 5500 block of South Princeton Avenue in Englewood; a 37-year-old man killed in the 500 block of East 38th Street in Bronzeville; a 33-year-old man shot in the 3000 block of West 30th Street in Little Village; <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/06/19/man-fatally-shot-west-pullman-another-injured\" target=\"_blank\" >a 29-year-old man shot</a> in the 11900 block of South Michigan Avenue in West Pullman and a 32-year-old man shot in the 600 block of East 92nd Street in Chatham, officials said. </p><p>The mass shooting happened Friday about 11:10 p.m. in the 200 block of West 95th Street as a large crowd gathered for the holiday. A red SUV drove by and two people inside opened fire, hitting the 13 victims, whose ages ranged from 17 to 47. </p><p>Other <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/2026/06/21/overnight-violence-chicago-teens-shot\" target=\"_blank\" >shootings wounded nearly 20 others </a> in neighborhoods on the South and West Sides, according to Chicago police. <br></p>",
