  "textContent": "<p>The <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears\" target=\"_blank\" >Bears</a>’ rookie minicamp had a local high school feel Friday.</p><p>Barrington High School alum Scotty Miller, Lake Forest High’s Mac Uihlein and Jai Williams and Loyola Academy’s Josh Kreutz all tried out for the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2026/05/08/bears-brian-urlacher-54-jersey-logan-jones-retire-out-circulation-george-mccaskey-nfl-rookie-minicamp\" target=\"_blank\" >Bears</a> as part of the two-day practice session, which ends Saturday.</p><p>Miller, who won a Super Bowl and played for Bears receivers coach Antwaan Randle El as a member of the 2020 Buccaneers, is a rare veteran tryout player. He seemingly has an opportunity — the Bears’ receiving room isn’t deep. He caught nine balls for 62 yards in 13 games with the Steelers last year.</p><p>“From afar, I’ve been able to see the speed, the quickness,” coach Ben Johnson said. “Certainly very intriguing.”</p><p>Uihlein had 101 tackles in his final season at Northwestern, becoming just the second FBS player to reach triple digits last year. He was the first Big Ten linebacker since 2018 to post at least 90 tackles, six tackles for loss and four interceptions in a season.</p><p>Williams, a defensive lineman, wasn’t as prolific in stops at Kentucky and Quincy. His father is former Bears great James “Big Cat” Williams. Kreutz, who started 37 times at center for Illinois the past three years, is the son of former Bears great Olin Kreutz. </p><p></p><p></p><bsp-list-loadmore class=\"PageListH\" data-module
