  "textContent": "<p>An 18-year-old man is facing charges he gunned down his father earlier this week in southwest suburban Oak Lawn. </p><p>The deadly shooting happened Monday in the 10400 block of South Austin Avenue, where patrol officers responded about 10:45 p.m. to a report of a person shot. Inside a home there police found Ayed Mdanat, 50, suffering from gunshot wounds, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. </p><p>Mdanat was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, at 11:18 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office. An autopsy Tuesday determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.</p><p>A large-caliber firearm was recovered at the scene, police said.</p><p>Responding officers identified the shooter as the victim’s son, 18-year-old Sami Mdanat, who had run off, but the 18-year-old was found a short time later near the scene, police said. </p><p>Detectives executed several search warrants, which resulted in murder charges for the son, who was scheduled for a detention hearing Thursday in Bridgeview. </p><p>Details from the hearing were not immediately available.<br></p>",
