"textContent": "<p>A man whose lawyer turned him in was charged in the death of a woman found strangled Monday night in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side. </p><p>Travion Cooper, 30, was charged with first degree murder, Chicago police said. </p><p>Terriyanna Johnson, 29, was found around 8:40 p.m. Monday inside an apartment in the 500 block of East 72nd Street in Greater Grand Crossing. She died of strangulation and her <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/04/22/suspects-lawyer-alerts-cops-to-woman-strangled-to-death-in-greater-grand-crossing-apartment\" target=\"_blank\" >death was ruled a homicide</a>, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which conducted the autopsy on Tuesday.</p><p>Police learned of Johnson’s killing when a criminal defense attorney called to say a dead person was at the Greater Grand Crossing location, and his client wanted to surrender, according to police reports obtained by the Sun-Times.</p><p>Cooper, of Chicago, was scheduled to appear in court Thursday. <br></p>",
