  "textContent": "<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears\" target=\"_blank\" >Bears</a> linebacker T.J. Edwards <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2026/01/11/bears-left-tackle-ozzy-trapilo-linebacker-t-j-edwards-out-for-season-after-injuries-in-packers-game\" >broke his leg in the playoff win over the Packers</a> and isn’t on the field for the offseason training program, but said Tuesday his recovery is on track.</p><p>While Edwards didn’t want to put a timeline on his return, general manager Ryan Poles said in January the team expects he’ll be back by the start of training camp. The Bears will practice as part of Organized Team Activities starting next month.</p><p>“I will push as hard as I can to move that as quickly as possible; I also want to be smart about it,” Edwards said. “As hard as it is for me to not be out there every step of the way right now, I'm on a really good plan with the trainers and I'll be ready when it's time to go, for sure.”</p><p>Edwards, 29, has been an essential piece in the Bears’ rebuild and is under contract through next season. He led the team with 351 tackles over the last three seasons, in addition to seven sacks, five interceptions and four fumble recoveries.</p><p>Regarding any doubts about his ability to come back from the injury at this age, Edwards said, “I’ve been doubted my entire career, and that’s just fine.
