Death of 25-year-old Avondale man ruled homicide from assault

The weekend death of man who was assaulted in Avondale in March has been ruled a homicide on Wednesday, officials said.

An autopsy determined Alexander C. Kavanowski, 25, died of blunt head trauma from an assault on March 24 at the intersection of Belmont and Harding avenues, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Kavanowski, of the 4900 block of West Nelson Avenue in Avondale, was pronounced dead Saturday at 3:31 p.m. and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.

Police had no information about the attack.
