Dolton man charged in Christmas Day shooting in Englewood

A Dolton man faces attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting in Englewood on Christmas Day, according to Chicago police.
Ronald Speed, 33, faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder, police said. He was arrested Monday.
Speed is accused of shooting a 37-year-old man in the 300 block of West Marquette Road at 11:02 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2026 while the two were in a verbal altercation, police said. The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center. At the time, he was listed in critical condition.
Speed is due in court Wednesday.
