  "textContent": "<p>Two cousins were trying to sell shoes and a gun outside a South Shore apartment building Sunday evening when gunfire erupted, resulting in two men being killed and a third man getting wounded.</p><p>The <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2026/03/22/3-people-shot-south-shore\" target=\"_blank\" >killings marked the fifth and sixth persons</a> fatally shot over the weekend citywide, which also left nearly a dozen people wounded from gun violence. </p><p>The cousins, men ages 24 and 26, were outside the apartment about 5:20 p.m. in the 6900 block of South South Shore Drive to sell shoes. When the older relative later tried to sell a firearm, someone began shooting, striking him in the chest, according to a Chicago police report.</p><p>He was found on the apartment driveway, while another man, 27, was found about a mile away in the 6800 block of South Constance Avenue with a gunshot wound to the neck, police said. Both were pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center. Their names haven’t been released.</p><p>A rifle and two semiautomatic handguns were found next to the 26-year-old man, the police report said.</p><p>A third man, 32, was shot in the arm and taken to the same hospital in fair condition, police said.</p><p>The 24-year-old man who was selling shoes left the scene after he was held at gunpoint in his car, according to the report.</p><p>A vehicle found in the 6800 block of South Constance Avenue was towed and held for the ongoing investigation, the report said.</p><p>No arrests have been announced.</p>",
