  "textContent": "<p>The Harvey City Council elected an acting mayor one month after the death of <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/2026/01/30/harvey-mayor-christopher-j-clark-dead\" target=\"_blank\" >Mayor Christopher Clark</a>.</p><p>Ald. Shirley Drewenski (1st) was unanimously selected during Monday’s City Council meeting and was sworn in to serve the remainder of Clark’s term through next year.</p><p>Drewenski had previously been sworn in as mayor pro tempore after Clark’s death. Her appointment comes after two prior council votes ended in ties. A majority vote is required for the appointment.</p><p>Drewenski did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p><p>Clark died Jan. 30 and served as mayor for six years. The cause of his death has not been revealed.</p><p>A memorial service will be held for Clark on March 28, according to the city.<br></p>",
