Metra BNSF train strikes pedestrian in Westmont

A Metra BNSF train struck a pedestrian in suburban Westmont on Tuesday morning, halting trains in the west suburbs.

Outbound train no. 1207 struck the person around 7:13 a.m. in a crossing at Cass Avenue, according to agency spokeswoman Meg Reile.

She did not have the condition of the person or an estimated time when trains would resume moving.

Authorities in Westmont did not immediately share additional information.
