Juvenile suffers scapes during police shooting in South Chicago

A juvenile is recovering in good condition with scrapes to their hands after a Chicago police officer fired their gun in the South Chicago neighborhood Thursday.
No officers were injured in the shooting, reported in the 8100 block of South Merrill Avenue, according to Chicago police spokesperson Tom Ahern.
A juvenile was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition with abrasions to their hands, according to the fire department. It was not clear how the injuries were received.
The Chicago Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is investigating, as is custom for shootings involving police, the agency posted on X.
