These rumored psychedelic ringless customizable camera lenses are a waste! Why not have funky lens sleeves instead?

Apparently TTartisan is working on lenses which omit the aperture and focus rings leaving the space for funky customizations – but why produce such dumbed-down, wasteful kit when you could make custom lens sleeves instead?
