I was captivated by the title of Soumya Sankar Bose‘s photobook Where the Birds Never Sing when it was shortlisted for the 2020 Paris Photo-Aperture PhotoBook Award. The work resonated deeply with me, as it revisits the tragic Marichjhapi massacre in the Sundarbans with remarkable sensitivity.
