FOR NORTHEAST IOWA AND FAR SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN\n\n\n\n\n Mesoscale Discussion 1439\n NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK\n 0110 PM CDT Thu Jul 02 2026\n\n Areas affected...northeast Iowa and far southwest Wisconsin\n\n Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 437...\n\n Valid 021810Z - 021945Z\n\n The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 437\n continues.\n\n SUMMARY...The severe weather threat continues this afternoon across\n northeast Iowa.\n\n DISCUSSION...A cluster of storms has congealed across northern Iowa\n with a recent measured wind gust of 72 mph near Mason City, Iowa.\n Expect some southward preference of this cluster along the\n instability gradient through the afternoon. In addition, storms are\n starting to develop along the outflow boundary ahead of this\n cluster. These storms may also develop supercell characteristics\n considering 35 to 40 knots of mid-level flow sampled by the KARX\n VWP. These cells and the potential for further upscale growth as\n these storms congeal, will lead to an increasing damaging wind\n threat this afternoon across northeast Iowa and perhaps into far\n southwest Wisconsin.\n\n Easterly low-level flow north of the boundary and heating across\n this boundary could result in a narrow zone north of the outflow\n with some tornado potential.
